Successful dram, fortunately the rum finish is not too dominant, but complements exciting aromas to the spirit.
    • Nose
Apple crumble cake, mirabelle plum, caramel.
    • Taste
Spicy, dry. Chocolate. Somewhat musty basement.
    • Finish
Warming, medium length. Some sugar at the very end.

I’m really happy with how the Cardhu 16 Years turned out.
    • Nose
Some surprising mineral notes and touches of varnish, followed by pear skin, brown sugar, pineapple, and hints of hints of forest floor. Finally some plums, honey and biscuits.
    • Taste
Thumbs up for the creamy mouthfeel. The palate displays a vibrant fruitiness. Hints of grapefruit, mango and tangerines. Hints of almonds and something vegetal, as well as orange liqueur and dark caramel. Really very pleasant.
    • Finish
Hints of honey, mango and a touch of chalk. Gentle, warming spices. Medium in length.

    • Nose
Mandarins and lemons. But mango, a hint of pineapple, and peaches too. This is followed by honeycomb and vanilla.
    • Taste
A lovely creamy mouthfeel. Mandarins and mango, but I also get a note of caramelised pineapple. Then vanilla and caramel fudge. A note of baked cookies. Green apples in the very back. And a hint of powdered sugar.
    • Finish
Mid-long. mandarins, fresh pineapple, green apples, and a hint of spices.

It’s a nice whisky, with quite a bit of fruity notes, I especially like the finish, with the tropical fruit. It’s rather nice, but not 160 quid nice – no sir. A very good whisky, but I’m still not convinced. I am expecting something a bit more special from the Special Release. But, hey – it’s me.
    • Nose
A bit of an alcohol bite, it needs some time to settle in the glass, then it’s fruity with a touch of tropicals (Rum finish, remember)? I am picking up some strawberry smoothie , peach cobbler, and then a hint of pineapple, it’s not overripe stuff you expect from some Jamaican rums, but it’s there… Some more nosing reveals a hint of toffee and milk chocolate as well, in addition to some sweet danish
    • Taste
weet and spicy at times, with lots of red apples, stewed pears, and more of the pineapple notes, on top of toffee, chocolate, and some fudge. There’s certainly a hint of rum, but it’s not overpowering, which is nice.
    • Finish
Tropical and quite lovely, with the tropical fruit notes going on for quite some time, the apples are here as well.

I have to say this Cardhu is awesome.
My experience so far hasn't been great.
    • Nose
      89 89
      sour wine note,
      fruity, fresh (lively)
      Fruits (mango, pomegranate, kiwi, apple)
now the rum note comes to light - spicy, exotic
With 58% very mild in the nose
    • Taste
      93 93
The alcohol needs something until it pushes - tingling on the tongue
      becomes very creamy, sweet, spicy
Cocoa blends with wood spice, vanilla and caramel
The rum spreads with its exotic aromas (banana, mango, also some pineapple)
    • Finish
      90 90
spicy notes of wood and orange go hand in hand
      medium length

It opens with a little water. The nose is beautiful (if you like rum flavors)

    My summary this year:
The Talisker convinced me and is my favorite this year.
The Lagavulin is on hold because it always has a few points in the open bottle
catching up. Next up this year is the Cardhu worth mentioning as far as the sweet ones go
likes notes of rum finish. The singleton is ok, but goes very much in the wine direction.
Everyone else disappointed me. Unfortunately I haven't been able to try the Cameronbridge yet

My ranking of the SR 2022:

    Talisker 11-year-old 88
    Cardhu 16-year-old 87
Lagavulin 12-year-old 86 (it gets better! towards 88+)
    Singleton 15-year-old 86
    Oban 10-year-old 85
    Clynelish 12-year-old 84

Matured on refill and recharred American oak and finished on Jamaican Pot Still rum barrels.

N: Rich nose on white fruit with icing sugar, oatmeal porridge, white chocolate, balsa wood, mandarin and all kinds of green notes. Reminiscent of the beginning of spring, when nature awakens again, so to speak.
S: Nice and creamy on the tongue with invigorating Jamaican Allspice, chestnuts and a lot of vanilla and caramel. Evolves into mango and banana, as well as a hint of pineapple.
F: In the short to medium aftertaste I get nice orangettes and a persistent touch of spicy oak.
    C: Damn, that's delicious!
