  1. Totoro scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

    [Blindtasting Notes]

Very nice, if of course very gentle. Tip: a mild, fruity Speysider (?) With refill sherry or other strong wine influence and a discreet smoky note, between 16 and 20 years.

Fruity! And pretty full of flavor for only 43 percent. Wood can also be felt right away. I would say that it has a sweet or strong wine flavor, but it doesn't necessarily have to be sherry, something like Madeira, Malaga or the like would also come. in question. And now that I think about it, it doesn't necessarily have to be Scotch, an Irishman would also be conceivable (maybe not single pot still, more Irish single malt). Nice balance of spice and fruit (apricot, apricot, grape).
The tendency is 87 points, after the first sip more like 88. With more air the influence of the wine decreases and it becomes more "classic", which suits me well. I would also say that in the beginning he looks younger (around 15 years) and with more time in the glass older (more towards or even over 20). The light smoke note adds to the complexity. In terms of the score, we are now definitely in the 88plus area. He's got something special in his nose, just a certain class, it's hard to describe, could end up at 89.

Expectably mild start, silky smooth, from the middle comes the spice and at the very end it gets a little charcoal - or is there a little smoke in there? On the palate, it doesn't seem so Irish to me anymore, I think I was led astray (or literally by the nose) by the vinous fruitiness. More like a nice, long-matured, mild single malt. The longer I deal with it, the more certain I am that the smoke saw.
    • Finish
      88 88
Beautiful, elegant, not at all intrusive wood notes, delicate fruit acid, always an idea of peat smoke.
