I really like this beautiful dirty smoke nose with the great fruit basket. The combination of sweet caramel sauce with the spicy, smoked herb mixture is convincing in terms of taste, which you should definitely try without adding water. The alcohol is really well integrated. Water is not necessary. The 16 years are particularly noticeable at the end through the impact of aromatic wood aromas. Marco filled a good cask at the right time.
    • Nose

Immediately clouds of smoke billow out of the glass. But no wood smoke or phenolic smoke as known from Islay Whisky. It's a bit like cowshed smoke, like hay smoldering on a dunghill and smoking slightly. If you feel your way behind the smoke, a basket full of apricots and peaches freshly picked from the tree appears, perhaps mixed with a little overripe fallen fruit. In addition, a bowl full of pieces of sweet Haribo fruit gum mixture. With a little standing time and oxygen, the fruit aromas switch to pineapple slices lying on the charcoal grill and the sweet pineapple juice dripping into the embers. A few dried sprigs of herbs like rosemary and thyme lie on top of the grilled and already caramelized pineapple slices. A nice herbal spiciness comes to the fore. The considerable alcohol strength is not noticeable at all.

With very sweet liquid caramel and tasting of the kitchen herbs that dominate the smell at the end, it is very soft on the tongue. A nice powerful attack immediately unfolds with the special dirty smoke after damp hay and meadow and behind it the fruity aroma mix is also present again. The alcohol pushes noticeably, the different taste components, especially the herbs and the smoke, are brought to the fore. Some white pepper and grated ginger also show up in the mouth at the end, creating a nice flavor harmony along with the initial sweetness and fruit concentration. With a few drops of water it becomes spicier, the sweet fruit aromas fade into the background - water does not bring any substantial improvement.
    • Finish
      87 87
The whisky glides down the esophagus, warming you up. Nice herbal and smoke aromas are still present. Now rather less fruity. It becomes more astringent and reveals more wood with a slight bitter note. The finish is medium to long.
