Sparring partner – Tomintoul 10 yo Bottled 06.12.2017.

Conclusions. The aroma is quite decent and interesting for sipping even at 40% abv. The taste is better than the partner's, but not as much as you would expect from a 16 year old whisky. However, in spite of everything, he is as drinkable as a 10-year-old. Score 81 points.
    • Nose
Aroma: noticeably richer and more expressive than a 10-year-old, looks much more mature. The cap is not needed. Spices, sweet fruits of bourbon origin (peach, banana), citrus fruits with sourness, creamy shades, a little honey and vanilla, floral motifs. In development, all this is complemented by light vegetable and woody notes. The profile is close to the partner, but much deeper and more interesting than him.
    • Taste
      Body: between light and medium.
Taste: here, too, the picture is better than that of the 10-year-old, though not as much as in the aroma. The texture is moderately oily. Immediately fruity sweetness, honey, citrus fruits, almonds, a little vanilla, mild spices, perfume motifs, spicy woody undertones. The finish is moderately dry and astringent with a slight bitterness. Not bad, but not thick for such a mature age.
    • Finish
Finish: between short and medium, spicy-sweet, almonds, soft tannins, dry with a slight bitterness at the end.
