You could wake me up in the middle of the night for this old Bunnahabhain. Absolute fruit bomb. This is why I started to drink whisky in the first place.
    • Nose
Wow what a nose! Delicate sweetness of tropical fruit all over. Pineapple, mango, papaya etc, etc. A little nail-varnish-remover at the background.
    • Taste
Tangerines and passion fruit. The tropical fruit is followed by sweet honey, custard and cake mix. Barley-sugar. Juicy cedar wood as well.
    • Finish
Medium long and quite dry. Cinnamon and a little ginger. Hints of pine at the end.

Banana, vanilla, tinned peaches, coconut, mango, precious wood, marzipan, white pepper, very good

What a superb Bunnahabhain is being delivered here after such time spend in the barrel (and in our situation, bottle). This Bunna has a wonderful balance where one detects truckloads of fruits, beautiful old wood, harmonising dusty flavors and spices. Never does it get boring and NT&F are simply delivering. Probably the best Bunna I’ve ever tasted.

    Part of a vintage tasting.
Best Bunna I’ve tasted together with an 1986 21yo.
Intense is the best word here. Incredible thick body, typical earthy Bunna, this is living proof Bunna & sherry are the perfect couple. Quite a fellow to handle. It needs time in the glass and also a small amount of water for it to reveal itself. What develops is a very well matured Bunna bursting with tropical fruits, earthy/muddy hints and mild sherry spices. The finish is one to take a sit for. If you have the chance: chew on it the rest of the night. Sweet dreams;)

    • Nose
Pine resin and vinegar. Delicate, pretty, and quite oaky. A whisper of ethanol. Water makes it more on the tropical fruit from the distillate. With more water, some malts and very tired oak.
    • Taste
Feels ready neat. Light taste, moderate body. Mostly on the fruity distillate. Water knocks it out of balance, making it rougher, drier, and more bitter.
    • Finish
The same as the mouth, but could be louder. Doesn’t really take off, with water or without. With water it’s slightly grassy.

Bang!! Shit, I dropped out of my chair again. What a beautiful old Bunna fruit bomb. You can hardly find it nowadays and if you do… make sure you have 500 EUR on hand. Thanks, Timon, for the very generous sample!
    • Nose
Bang!! Sorry, I just fell out of my chair. What a divine nose this is! Wonderful, tropical fruit goes hand-in-glove with salted caramel and resin. As for the fruit, think mango, pineapple, papaya, kiwi and some banana. Boy, this is good! With some patience, you’ll also get chocolate, oranges, espresso and almonds. Layered bliss!
    • Taste
While the body is rather light, the taste more than makes up for it. It’s a bit old school, dusty on cedar wood and ginger, but the fruit is there, as is the chocolate – that turns a bit into praline filling. The second sip is quite spicy. Think nutmeg, cinnamon and a lost clove. Nice, very much so!
    • Finish
I would not have minded if the finish lingered a bit longer, but I’m already way too happy with this to care. Oranges and chocolate at the death.

    Real antique flavors. Fruit bomb.
Be sure to Bunnahabhain is that ?! :)
    • Nose
Pine rosin, sherry, salted caramel, pineapple and mango, nail varnish remover
    • Taste
Sweet, spicy and fruity: sugar syrup, ginger, pineapple and passion fruit, punch pudding and orange peel
    • Finish
Medium length, first sweet oranges than dry spices and pine

Very nice old Bunna, too easy to drink in all honesty which is very dangerous.
    • Nose
Old and resinous is how I would describe this.

Coffee, chocolate, treacle tart, caramel, sherry and some cinnamon in the background.
    • Taste
Interesting notes of syrup, orange, ginger spice, pineapple and icing sugar.
    • Finish
Medium length and pleasantly sweet, the orange comes through at the finish.
