  1. MaltMartin scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Pretty cool to have the possibility to taste such an old single malt with a real vintage (thanks a lot Greg!). A blender's glass for this one is recommended. Difficult to rate. Nose and taste are a bit flat, although there's a certain complexity in it as well.
    • Nose
Dusty and unexpected sweetness at first nosing with hints of mango, yellow apples, and kaki fruit. Followed by delicate mineral notes of wet stones and chalk. Cough syrup. Parafine. It's all very subtle and fragile with definitely some OBE in the background (but that is inevitable with such old bottles).
    • Taste
Now more on butterscotch and treacle with a woody edge. Plenty of gingerbread and roasted malt. Dried apricots, figs, and dates as well. Spices of chamomile and camphor. Later on apple mint and a whiff of pipe tobacco. A little cinnamon in the finale. The palate is quite thin, probably due to its 40% ABV.
    • Finish
Dry and slightly bitter. Not that long, unfortunately. Eucalyptus and some pine a the end.
