Pretty much spot on, the Thompson Brothers SRV5 Blended Malt delivers on its promise.
    • Nose
Just a sliver of peat and soot accompanied by beeswax, and olive brine as well. Also lemon zest, apple skin and petrichor. Finally vanilla pods and a touch of banana custard with a few drops of honey.
    • Taste
The palate really is a continuation of the nose. Subtle smoke, bananas, green apples and a hint of grapefruit. There's a touch of white pepper, tree sap and some brine too.
    • Finish
Lingering notes of mint, lemon pith and dried grass. Medium in length.

Not bad, but it's unlikely to blow your socks off either. For the price, it's pretty quaffable.
    • Nose
Tropical fruit, sweetness, in fact the juice you get from a tin of mixed fruit (those odd tines here you get all sorts of fruit thrown in and are likely to find at your grandparents).
    • Taste
The sweetness continues on the palate - if I were to use shape as a descriptor I would say slightly tubular - the taste is at the edges.
    • Finish
The sweetness lingers a while, but like a fish in the kitchen bin, I'm not sure if that is a good thing - celery salt at the death.

Had the opportunity to taste two recent bottlings by the Thompson Bros. from Dronach Distillery at the Dornoch Castle Hotel ( Ledaig 26 year old and SRV5 8 year old ).

Here you will find a lot of additional interesting information about the current bottling SR5V - Station Road Vat 5:
