What a beast of a Bottle this bottle has been. Had no idea a cask strength bourbon barrel could wield such flavours and aromas. What intrigues me the most is the fact that tastes and smells I used to consider as the "sidekicks" of most whiskies ive tasted, here, blatantly take the leading role and offer quite a unique -and at the same time- thoroughly pleasant experience. Bourbon cask strength at its finest.
    • Nose
      89 89
Sea Salt, lots of Iodine, Candlewax, the smell of dried out wood, part of the hull of a boat that has been sailling the seas for a while. Subtle Malt aromas, lemon zest, pinapple, though heavily submerged and hidden by the intensely brinny profile the nose on this one offers. Once time has passed the secondary aromas surface, though waxy notes dominate.
    • Taste

Savoury, oily, lots of nuts on different levels of roasting, mainly hazelnuts and peanuts. Younger wood slightly frangrant, lightly burnt butter, on 3rd sip forward some medium intensity sweetness apears. Complex, intense, you can drink this dram whole day long and continue discovering new layers of flavour, unfortunatelly it is pretty demanding of your pallete and pretty overwhelming past 2nd or 3rd dram, saturating your taste buds making distinguishing lighter and less "in your face" flavours quite the task. For a 60.2 ABV and 9 years of age I can say the alcohol is well integrated and the maturation seems to have been a good one for such a little time one bourbon barrels in cold climate.

Long, lasting. Buttery and oily, a hint of some peppery notes on the back of my toungue. here comes that frangrant feeling of the wood i was tasting before. This is an unsual beast, flavours I am used to feel on the background of most drams take the lead role here. Some malted barley taste lingers. I get some spice on the aftertaste, not sure what exactly. Final notes after 3 glasses give me some chilli and cayenne after taste, could it be the oak? I have no idea but this dram intrigues me the more i sip it.
