Very good. The nose could tell a few more things.
    • Nose
      87 87
The nose is creamy, milky. Apricot, peach in syrup, candied lemon. Goji Berry
Dust, wood, milk chocolate. Pepper, light solvent. Very light medicinal.
    • Taste
      89 89
In the mouth it is oily.
Wood, cinnamon, milk chocolate. Nuts, toasted almonds.
Spices take the lead. Nutmeg, freshly ground black pepper
The fruit is set back, with a little peach, citrus, blood orange.
      Freshness of mint and pepper.
    • Finish
      89 89
Long finish on heather honey, candied lemon, a very light smoke. Pepper.

[December, 2013]  I found this dram in an advents calendar sampled by MaRa.

my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50
    - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 87,5.  I took no detailed notes.

This old Glen Elgin stood the test of time well. Around
    160 EUR.
    • Nose
The nose starts off dusty, as if I am nosing this in
      the attic. Very
floral. Wild flowers in a pasture. Heather. Wood shavings. Beeswax. Green
banana. Vanilla and some nuts. Twig of eucalyptus. And surprisingly little oak. Becomes fruitier as you leave it to breath,
but never turns into a fruit bomb.
    • Taste
      Glides gently over the
taste buds with a nice bite from the spices. Mint tea and some more wood. Hints
of citrus, that join the unripe banana. Powerful, but does not need water.
    • Finish
In the drying, medium length finish, the mint tea
      stands out.
