  1. glen efze scored this whisky 81 points Connoisseur

Dailuaine bottled at Cask Strength by Signatory for Kirsch Import. The whisky comes from the 1st Use Hogshead, which is an unusual term and which I can't really interpret, it's 9 years young and still 59.2% vol. strong. The color is rich hogshead yellow.

    • Nose
In the nosing you can feel the sweetness in the nose, that is dissolved cream and caramel candy with lots of vanilla. Then come fruit, some mango, a hint of banana and a slight bitterness pushes back the sweetness. The aromas are quite strong, there is also wood involved.
    • Taste
The alcohol is powerful, no chance without water. And the whisky also feels like a dissolved cream caramel candy. That is an oily syrupy feeling in the mouth, the whisky lies like a liqueur on the tongue. There, however, it breaks down too much into its aroma components: there is sharp alcohol, there is sugary sweetness, there is powerful wood. The fruit is missing. As more water is added, the alcohol becomes milder, but the whisky itself becomes almost watery.
    • Finish
In the aftertaste mighty wood - but no nice spice, no chocolate. Or if it does, then the cheap chocolate from way back when, just for fun, it was assumed that it contained sawdust.

At first glance, it makes quite an impression in the twilight, until, when your eyes have adjusted, you discover the boldly applied make-up. Too sweet, too alcoholic, too woody - too poorly matured. I don't like him.
