A brilliant malt! At first I was skeptical because it wasn't bottled at cask strength. But this decision turned out to be absolutely correct. It is very intense, especially on the tongue, but still elegant and mature. Age brings great complexity with a great interplay of flavors. The oak is very tender and not too bitter considering its age. You should also experiment with a few drops of water.

    • Nose
A great and complex start with slightly musty sherry, oak and earthy notes. I feel like I'm in Dunnage Warehouse. Dark and dried fruits (prunes and raisins) dominate. Behind fresh oranges. The aroma isn't really sweet at first, but flashes of sweet notes every now and then. The oak and sherry bring associations of dark chocolate and some leather. After a few minutes it opens up clearly. The aroma becomes lighter and the sherry notes less heavy. Now a clear sweetness comes through, as well as apple compote, (sour) cherries and peaches. There are still delicate oak notes. A slightly cooling feeling in the nose allows associations of sea air. After the first taste, the oak becomes a little more intense. After a while, the aroma becomes sweeter again. An interesting change.
    • Taste
Very intense with a good portion of freshly ground black pepper. Otherwise the taste is very sweet with lots of sherry. The mix of sherry and oak brings raisins, cherry cake, red or dark berries and chocolate. The berries are not so easy to assign, but go a bit in the direction of raspberries and blackberries. Sweetness clearly dominates, the oak has difficulties asserting itself. After a few seconds, a taste of sweet marzipan comes through.
    • Finish
Velvety soft, sweet and warming with almonds and marzipan. Then comes a touch of bittersweet oak. The sweetness lasts surprisingly long without becoming drier. Vanilla, cherry cake and berries are added later. The taste lasts forever. I have seldom experienced such a long departure.

      With water:
With two drops of water, it feels a little sweeter on the nose. The aroma also reminds me of sawdust from fresh wood. The peaches come into their own a little more. It is less sharp on the tongue, but still remains intense. The finish is also a little sweeter with milk chocolate and a subtle herbal note.

Quite fruity and easy drinkable, however, it's a bit lacking of complexity for a 25yo
    • Nose
      88 88
Some orchard fruits, apple, pear, nutty, almonds, marzipan, sultanas, vinous notes, spices, hints of sherry wood - not bad
    • Taste
      87 87
Little punchy, oily, fruity, honey, subtle sweetness, more apple and pear, spices, pepper, little ginger, hints of oak wood, little nutty, hints of leather
    • Finish
      86 86
Medium long, warm, fruity, spicy, little woody

After 25 YO whisky for close to 320 €, I was expecting something more. It is true that whisky stands out from the others, which I had the pleasure to taste with the aroma of rose petals (very nice and pleasant), but it lacks something.
In my opinion, it is primarily lacking in power. 10% more to the overall strength, it would give it a so-called "kick" and would release all aromas and flavors more. In my opinion, the 18 YO version looked much better.
    • Nose
      85 85
delicate, fruity, raisins, notes of rose petals, chamois leather, the end is young oak with a bit of wet peat
    • Taste
      86 86
smooth, creamy, sweet, fruity, raisins, vanilla, ripe cherries, next, yeast dough with crumble, slightly bitter with notes of moss and peat
    • Finish
      86 86
medium, slightly spicy, salt, hop tip with dark chocolate and honey, warming up.

Bunnahabhain 25yo - 97 after 18 is this bomb bomb shot, sherry is incredibly balanced, not predominant, the taste is chocolate, figs, tobacco, leather
