Not totally bad but when the leathery notes trend to damp socks it's too much

Rich coffee flavoured mint ice cream, salted caramel, wet seaweed, Terry's chocolate orange, yellow grapefruit, and earthy peat. It's elegant and decadent and a fantastic deal.

Original tasting notes plus my comments
    • Nose
      88 88
Original: Juicy blood oranges and candied apples combine with a subtle hint of vanilla. Smoke is in the foreground next to tart grapefruit and lemon zest.

My notes: vanilla and rock candy. I think I have citrus notes (but not very pronounced).
Maybe some leather or tobacco too.
      Wet autumn leaves.
Overall a very pleasant interesting nose
    • Taste
      91 91
Original: Smoky campfire embers complement baked apple and sweet orange peel. Light and flavorful; black pepper develops alongside aromas of milk chocolate with anise undertones.

My notes: Peppery start, spicy, oily soft, buttery caramel, leather, very sweet, tingling, milk chocolate (aniseed - maybe more of a hint of liquorice).
Then comes the oak - but very moderately
    • Finish
      90 90
Original: Light and medium-bodied finish with lingering smoke and cocoa powder.

My grades: medium-long - the tannins and chocolate stay.

    nose:
peat, candied fruits on orange citrus fruits
    malt, nuts and spices
return of the earthy smoke above the peat
    stuffy:
spices, smoke, ash, a little zan, seaweed sap
the fruits are on candied citrus, very pleasant, close to a sherry, there is a gripping touch of iodine
return by the peppery spice, the light peat, more smoky characteristic of Ardmore, trace of caramel, the fruits on the orange peel, on the sweet candied pear, then on the cooked lemon and the candied zest that goes with it , very oily traces on the edge of the glass, a little used leather saddle
    final:
long, warm, sweet spices, crushed nuts, macerated and sweet fruits, smoke from the fire that has gone out.

Tobacco, toffee, yellow fruits, nuts, leather, not bad

  12. LeChiffre scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Tasty and tasty, but at just under 150 euros a bit too expensive for what is on offer.
    • Nose
      88 88
initially earthy-mineral notes; light smoke; delicate fruit notes; some citrus; the earthy-mineral-smoky profile is vaguely reminiscent of Bowmore
    • Taste
      87 87
soft and slightly creamy; delicate fruit notes; some pepper; Oak; Campfire smoke and some ash
    • Finish
      88 88
spicy; slight sparkling pepperiness; some smoke; delicately tart notes of wood
