  1. MaltsofIslay scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

A very young whisky that should have been given a few more years in the barrel. A longer maturation would have done him good, so he is not in my taste profile. For me, the bitterness dominates too much. At the asking price of €80 for 4 years, one could have expected more. There are also enough examples where young whisky's can also convince!
    • Nose
      87 87
Light red fruits, nutmeg and a medicinal sweetness come very clearly to the nose. I would have preferred a Moscatel or Madeira cask.
    • Taste
      80 80
In the mouth, the sweetness from the nose does not come into its own. Slightly medicinal at first and then a very noticeable dry bitterness that I don't like. I can no longer find the fruity notes from the nose here. The alcohol is very well integrated and I would have guessed a drinking strength of 46%.
    • Finish
      82 82
The bitterness remains dominant, but then develops a little more pleasantly towards 85% dark chocolate, which sticks to the palate dry as a bone.
