A nice Staoisha from Signatory. It delivers exactly what is expected of it: strong Islay smoke and sea. In addition, a nice combination of sweet fruits and a strong portion of oak.

    • Nose
First with a clear campfire smoke and smoked bacon. Really fleshy at first impression. Behind the smoke hides an intense sweetness with caramel, a good portion of malt, as well as grain and vanilla. The whole thing is complemented by lush fruity notes of oranges, plums, pineapple, lemons and grapefruits. The oak is also noticeable and brings spicy notes of freshly cut wood. Enveloped in the smoke, maritime impressions of salty sea air also come to mind.
    • Taste
As expected, the smoke right in the foreground. Here, however, less meaty and even with a slightly medicinal touch. This is followed by a sharp pepper/chili note that fills the entire mouth. After a few seconds, citrus fruits (lemons and oranges) assert themselves, as well as an intense, syrupy sweetness. I can also find malt and grain again. Then it gets spicier with oak, almonds and a touch of spice cabinet. The sweetness decreases and the taste becomes noticeably tart before the finish.
    • Finish
Even the last remnant of sweetness fades. It dries quickly and the tart notes of oak with dark chocolate and nuts intensify. The smoke covers everything with its smoky note and lingers in the throat even after the other impressions have disappeared. Towards the end I also think I can feel a hint of sour citrus fruits.
