[August, 2019] Somehow I am in the mood for a real old dram tonight so I opened this sample. I bought a bottle for 225 Euro in July, 2010.

Yes, this is my beloved old stuff with an excellent old style sherried nose and a fine taste. The finish is a tad too short to be of equal quality but still it is very enjoyable. But the nose alone is worth every buck (that I paid)...
    • Nose
      93 93
The colour is chestnutoloroso sherry and the nose offers a superb old style sherry profile with all these lovely aromas of fruits (oranges, plums, figs), raisins, nuts, herbs, honeys, dark chocolate, old leather, furniture polish and and and... All in perfect harmony and without any off-note and it grows stronger upon breathing. That is what I adore!
    • Taste
      91 91
The taste is an amalgam of all the flavours above that are somehow hard to catch alone (it is not really layered) so it is a hide-and-seek game on the palate. Actually, I am too lazy to play this and rather enjoy this delicious mix as a whole. No flaw again, all is perfect and balanced and it is nicely chewable.
    • Finish
      90 90
The dram arrives warming and instantly coating on the palate with a minor drying feeling (cold metals) that is not distracting. The finish is of medium length and adds a tasty dark chocolatey note towards the end. No distracting moments here, maybe just a very shy note of dried tea leaves. Water is not needed as it just flattens the anyhow low-proof dram.
