Got a sample from this single cask at the Whisky festival Alkmaar this year. GlenAllachie is one of my favorite when it comes to single cask bottling so let's see what we have here.
    • Nose
      86 86
Vanilla, orange marmelade, abricot, little marzipan, oak wood and pinecones. After a while in the glass, fresh cut grass comes up together with honey wax.
    • Taste
      86 86
Orange peels, spices, green appels, fallen leafs in the rain. The ABV is well intergrated, it's there but not dominant.
    • Finish
      85 85
A combination of fruit and forest notes. I understand where the autumn name comes from.

Glenallachie 2011 - 2021, 9 years, "For a Chilly Dutch Autumn", 63.5% alc. Bottler: Original bottling for DrankDozijn. Expansion: Pinot Noir Barrique barrel No. 5319

Nose: After a little rest in the glass, I can smell some of the malt. I find dark bread and walnuts, as well as a mixture of dried berries and apricots. Behind it some canned peach and mustard seeds. These aromas harmoniously incorporate a pleasant sweetness.

Palate: Strong start, sweet and at the same time malty / spicy, quite dry. In addition to the dried fruits, I taste walnuts and roasted almonds, some coffee and mustard, chestnuts and dark chocolate. It also has a slight sharpness.

Finish: Medium to long, dry and hot. Bitter cocoa flavors cover the tongue.

Conclusion: exciting aromas of a good Glenallachie. In the finish, the alcohol comes through a little, a few drops of water won't damage the whisky. 84/100 points (2022)
