Whisky Reviews for Balvenie 17-year-old
24 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 84.12 points
- Standard Balvenie with a unique twist. Peat was so subtle it may as well have been unpeated cask.
On the nose we do not find the vanilla side of Balvenie, partly masked by the smoky side of the whisky. We can smell notes of toasted cereals and spices.
The whisky opens immediately on peaty notes, moist moss and then gradually offers a more cereal aspect. But nothing exceptional, all this remains pretty basic.
The finish is long, with notes of roasted coffee and an amazing freshness at the end of the mouth, slightly lemony.
- Tasting Notes:
Smokes of afterburn wet wood, mossy. Bbq sauce with whiff of
medicinal. Burnt orange peels, nutty and off tone honey sweet. Rather
P- Root extract, dry hay, toasted bean. Fresh wood at back note.
F- Medium-long. Bitter gourd, unpleasant. Puffy burnt hay. Waxy. Spicy linger at back palate.
