This dram confirmed why Edrasour isn’t my favorite distillery to say the least, even buried under a thick layer of sherry. This dram offers an intense experience flavourwise, but is restless at the same time. I kinda liked it in a way (but I wouldn't need another glass), but my tasting buddy couldn't finish his dram.

A sour side of sherried whisky. Sour yogurt, lemons and fennel are slowly joined by sweeter/darker notes like dried plums, coffee and maggi(lovage). Has a musty and vegetal side too, with a hint of gun powder. Strong nose!

The sherry notes are upfront and sweeter compared to the nose: raisins, cherry and chocolate. They conflict with sour notes like lemons and sour yogurt. Also there's some fresh dill and aniseed as well as a distinct oaky and musty taste. It is quite restless, the alcohol isn't integrated yet.

More spicy now, with chocolate and chilis. Again a sour edge appears, with sour yogurt, sour cherries and citrus fruit. A hint of leather and rubber lingers.

Lesson learned for me: Don't ever buy an Edradour that is younger than 11 years regardless of the dark color! This one had 9 years and 3 months. In my opinion, it had following issues: 1. lack of real depth, 2. lack of complexity and 3. felt too hot/sharp even after dillution (one of the signs of a young/inmature whisky). I had 3 different Sherry matured Edradours in the past, all within the 11-13 years range. I have not encountered any of the mentioned issues with any of them.

Not my thing at all. I had a hard time getting this one away
    • Nose
Closed Sherry Bomb. Fennel, hazelnut, dark herbs, dried dates. Red fruit sauce.
    • Taste
Dry, sour, stale, baby milk, weak herbs.
    • Finish
Bitter and sour. Some red fruit and fruit peels. Again, sweet flavours. Sour milk and paprika.

Sherry fruits and wood with too much ethanol
    • Nose
      87 87
Big vanilla, cherry syrup, shortbread cookie, dusty wood. After water - some dried fruits
    • Taste
      82 82
Sweet vanilla, wave of alcohol than dry chared wood and dried red fruits. Just too much ethanol go through
    • Finish
      82 82
Medium, red fruit jam and dried chared wood. Fruity but ethanol still strong

Something fun and fantastic. Another great Edradour release. It's slowly becoming more and more my favorite distillery.
Sweet, aromatic, fruity with plum jam and lots of raisins and chocolate, as well as slightly spicy with a lot of sherry. Great Finish. It does not bite the palate, despite the high alcohol strength (59.2%). Everything is perfectly organized and well-balanced.
    I recommend.
    • Nose

very clear, sweet, plum, raisins, vanilla, toffee, milk chocolate, varnished oak, slightly earthy at the end
    • Taste
      89 89
quite sweet, ripe cherries, plum jam, chocolate, orange peel, young oak
    • Finish
      89 89
long, sweet raisins again, a lot of cherries, dark chocolate, a warming tip with the aftertaste of strong tea
