Very nice balance, without fuss and very pleasant to drink.
    • Nose
Strong nose on the barrel, wood. Grapes and caramel, honey. Opens pleasantly on oranges. The wood thins out. Small freshness of cut grass.
    • Taste
Very pleasant on the palate on wood-smoked chocolate oranges.
    • Finish
Final on smoked caramel. Pepper and cinnamon.

I did not like the finish as it has a lot of acidity. The nose is nice, the taste is decently complex but the spiciness/acidity is ruining it for me.

Have the Glenfarclas 25 yo London Edition (TWE Exclusive) in direct comparison and have to say, this could well be a piglet.

If not, my next tip would be Glenrothes.

[Update:] After more than 8 cl over a few weeks, the tendency is more towards Glenrothes than Glenfarclas.

Quite (refill) barrel-heavy, with very present wood notes that are reminiscent of dried culinary herbs.

Oak, oloroso, leather, myrrh (incense sticks), baked apple.

Find it in the nose woodier, herbal, but also cleaner than its predecessor (WID 171413). However, this also makes it seem a bit more arbitrary.
    • Taste

Already very herbaceous and woody, but just within the limits.

In the middle it becomes fruity-jammy-sweet, with red berries and orange.

Towards the end more spices - cinnamon, nutmeg - and light pepperiness.
    • Finish
      87 87
Nice and chocolaty. A bit of juicy acidity in the aftertaste, which goes well with the very present wood spiciness.

Compared with the last 26yo (2020) of EVWC (WB171413), i would say it come from the same distillery, pretty obvious to me.

This one is freshly opened, so it will need time, the 2020 is open since almost one year now, so ...

The nose is not that deep and round, but even if the ABV is really higher, the alcool integration is so nice as always with EVWC.

The mouth still very tasty like his brother, but this one is not that rounded and complex, but still really enjoyable.

The finish makes the big difference to me, this one quit the bitterness and the kind of beautiful smoke we had on the 2020.

A beautiful selection again and again from EVWC, with another really good dram here.

Need to come back on it after some month opened for sure, and taste how he changed.

A very special dram like I've never had it before, already "very" barrel-heavy, but WOW what a barrel !! First nose: Sherry, yes the sherry drink, better than having a top Oloroso in your glass, maybe not everyone likes that, I think it's a terrific experience, something extraordinary. After 10-20 minutes the sherry binds nicely. Of course not much of the distillate can be seen, but since it's a "secret", it doesn't matter :-)
