...but one of the finest modern-style sherried drams I tasted this year. Absolutely flawless and perfectly balanced with the best flavours young sherry wine can offer this dram truly stands out among the many like-wise editions these times. But be warned again: If you search for easy-to-identify "flavour spikes" or a whisky which is suited for a social media hype - forget it. This is a fine dram for drinking (even dangerously because it is hard to stop), but nothing more.

The colour is old gold and the nose offers a flawless and impressive modern sherry profile which is one of the best I came across this year (even better than most of the modern sherry profiles Glenfarclas, including this year's Family Casks). All the fine aromas of young sherry wine are there but they do not overwhelm the malt, it is able to keep its head up high in this setting and this creates a fine and balanced nosing experience. But shy away if you look for powerful and "spikey" impressions, this is a delicate dram - not a sherry monstrosity.

The taste is very delicate on a close-to-perfect mix of malt, wine and wood flavours. No, there are no dominating impressions but exactly this is what I like - a harmonious setting with many different flavours to explore which do not fight each other and rather join forces to create a very enjoyable taste. Usually I stop after the third dram when I rate a new whisky, but this time I grant myself two additional measures.

The dram arrives warming and nicely coating on my palate without any distracting moments. The finish is long and displays more of the delicious winey notes as well as spicy woods and sweet barley sugars. Again, there is nothing what would impress any friends on Facebook (or the like) but a lot which impresses my taste buds. Water is not needed as it just flattens the dram, I like it best when neat.
