  1. JoshNRW scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

After a long tasting evening with many 85 and one or two 88 point whiskys, I wanted a nice malt to finish with and this one is really a nice, old and mature malt from the bourbon cask. Not a bomb, but a solid pleasure whisky.

With only 2cl I couldn't really discover it, so my impressions are limited.

A mature bourbon cask aging with slightly spicy aromas. I also find the canned pears from the user "Note of Malts", although I can't remember ever seeing canned pears anywhere, let alone smelling them. But he describes the individual aromas better and more appropriately than I could.

But what I do know is that this is a clean, full and voluminous bourbon aging that I like and enjoy. The alcohol, the age, the cask and the distillate - everything fits together.

With water more sweetness and more rum notes. Then 90 points.

The palate starts out a bit drier and dustier than I had hoped. The wood is also very present, but I like it in general. Despite this, the flavors are not particularly complex or impressive. I'd say very solid and I'm just a little disappointed.

I like it a little better with water.

Clean distillate, a little too much alcohol for the key data and the aromas remain too weak for the key data. Still a good whisky in terms of quality, but nothing more.
