  1. JoshNRW scored this whisky 91 points Connoisseur

The prerequisites are already good: Glen Grant Bourbon maturation with the perfect key data in terms of age and percentages.
And yes, overall the whisky fulfills my hopes and I like it very much as a whole package. The nose is the best part for me.

Between 89 and 91 points depending on the mood of the day and preferred taste profile. I think the price of around 200 euros for a bottle is still justified.

First nose: oh yes! Glen Grant bourbon maturation as I love it. Rather dark bourbon aromas of honey, caramel fudge, milk chocolate and marble cake with vanilla.
The fruit notes are only in the middle and comparatively subtle, but ripe. The whisky is very voluminous and has the typical Glen Grant oiliness, although the oil here is actually already waxy.

With a 2cl sample, it's hard to give the whisky time to breathe because it smells so inviting that I'm dying to try a sip.

The entry is clearly more influenced by the barrel and the beginning is a bit too bitter. It shouldn't have stayed longer in the barrel, otherwise I would perceive the wood notes as off notes. The malt is already in the direction of sweet strong beer and the fruit notes are more dried plums with hazelnuts and orange. Stay a little peppery.

Hmm, that's a bit stronger than the nose and a bit out of round, but still very good and exciting. After the nose I had expected a soft interplay of honey and marble cake.
Once you have the first sips in your mouth, your nose will also change and your palate and nose will fit together better.
    • Finish
      90 90
The mouthfeel is like the nose, so the whisky lies oily on the tongue and then spreads warmly in the mouth. The finish is rather long and lingers with a mix of aged wood, barley sugar and malt.
