For 125 euros retail price on my overpriced location it is actually a steal for the specs (Arran 18 is nearly 200, for reference). However it is not something that totally stands out, and the more I go down the bottle, the more faults I can find with it.

Still a nice bottle, but Victoriana is cheaper and ultimately way more rewarding.

Initially a beloved nose, but now some clear faults can be found. One could say it is a bit hollow sherry maturation with soft sulphur notes and a hint of perfumed bleach in the background. However, there are a lot of good things to show for: old sherry wood flavors, warm choco-nut, malty jams, a very engaging spiciness (cinammon, smoked paprika, ginger, fennel and sesame seeds in the background). Juicy, persistent, very christmas-y without feeling like just another sherry whisky. Some earthy hints, honey, citrus and baked fruits also clearly noticeable. Quite nice overall.

Way more of a traditional sherry maturation the more the bottle goes down. Decent texture, intense, quite spicy, the sulphur notes get toned down but are still present. Way less elegant than when freshly poured. Still visibly malty, but the character seems to be covered up with normy sherry notes. A bit boring but very decent.

Even more replaceable here, but to me friendlier than the palate. Starts off alcoholic and spicy, but gets warmer and even more into the normie sherry notes with chocolate, wood, aromatic spices, juicy dried fruits. Very decent length, though.
