    Blind Tasting.

This is some old style of whisky. I mean bottling. It is so fatty-oily and round-dense. Although it is quite easy to drink. Therefore, I will immediately assume reduction. But, most likely, it stood in the bottle for quite a long time.

If this is a single malt, then the bottle definitely didn't say something like "light-mellow-smoothie". Because I see a very characteristic drink. It's hard for me to say what kind of hen house it is, but it's closer to such charismas as the scraping Nevis or even the meaty Mortlach, although most likely neither. Its peppery spiciness is more reminiscent of Speyside Rothes.

I don't think the age matters, rather the cask blending. I'm leaning towards a batch blend of both sherry and bourbon casks, although it may be the oak that's playing into it. Because the markers of both are very rich. The vanilla caramel is dominant, but in the background there are persistent sherry markers: raisins, dates, and dark dried apricots. It's unlikely that it was the finish, because the old bottling was in my initial assumptions. Although I may be mistaken, I do this easily.

A good friend poured it blind: the first nose is vanilla sweet, then it’s calmer, but tasty, although the aftertaste is quite dry, it’s difficult here, but I think Tobermory, about 20 years old, 43-46%.
    22 22 20+ 21 85+.

The first approach is brighter than the second, it feels like it’s crumbling/fizzled out before our eyes. Rating general impression.

There were also spare ideas for Ben Nevis, and then for Glenrothes, but Tobermory was left as the main option.
