Colour: Amber. Thick, heavy legs. Nothing crazy in this, it just delivers. Exactly what I imagined for a moderately aged Inchgower in a refill butt. This is something I can keep drinking in a summer night without noticing how much I’ve had. Light amount of good sulphur in it but expectable from Inchgower due to their extremely wide cut range plus Sherry butt.
    • Nose
      85 85
Amber in color with thick, heavy legs, the nose immediately reveals Sherry influence despite the whisky’s lighter hue. Sweet dried fruits dominate—medjool dates, prunes, and raisins—layered with sticky manuka honey and malty richness dusted with cracked black pepper. Fresh red apples and juicy pears bring brightness, while faint notes of leather and raw, unseasoned nuts add depth. It’s distinctly Inchgower: bold yet refined, with just a whisper of the sulphury edge often associated with the distillery’s wide cut range and Sherry cask maturation.
    • Taste
      85 85
The palate carries the promise of the nose seamlessly. A peppery arrival sets the stage for chewy chunks of dried yellow fruits—apricots and mango jelly in particular—intertwined with toasted cinnamon stick. Subtle herbal oak emerges toward the back, accompanied by a savory undertone that enhances the whisky’s balance. Rich yet easy-going, it’s the kind of dram you could enjoy continuously on a warm summer evening without noticing how quickly the glass empties.
    • Finish
      86 86
Long and slowly drying, the finish sustains the fruit-forward character while layering in measured oak influence. The consistency from nose through finish is admirable, as orchard and dried fruits linger gracefully alongside the Sherry butt’s oakiness.
