After the Rare Malt Glen Mhor, it is really positively surprising that the distillery character comes across so convincingly in this old “standard”.
It is not very complex in the mouth but the malt develops into a multi-layered dram.
    • Nose
      88 88
The first nose is reminiscent of a walk in the forest, light ethereal coniferous notes, earthy, grassy.
This is immediately followed by very nice apple notes, more like peel and core, meaning slightly bitter notes. Overall, very harmonious, a bit dusty, and leaves you wanting more.
    • Taste
      88 88
Light fruitiness, slightly bitter. It starts off a bit reserved and becomes increasingly complex in the mouth. Waxy!
The bitterness is very pleasant and not disturbing - the earthy nose is a bit in the background but you notice it.
Hardly sweet, if anything then more like a bit of honeydew.
The walk in the forest continues.
    • Finish
      87 87
Incredibly waxy, slightly fruity, and pleasant. Medium-length but not particularly complex after the first sip.
