Definitely likes some water. Hot ethanol at full strength. Once you get some water on it, the complexity starts to ooze out with vegetables and doughs along side the sweet fruit notes. The finish is a bit drying and tannic which led me to the lower score.

Nose - apples, salted caramel, gristy malt, vegetal, wine corks, bread dough

Taste - sweet and somewhat tart, cherries, more vegetal broccoli notes, some light almond, increasingly potent ginger spice on the turn

Finish - more apples, drying and even a bit bitter, maraschino cherries

Color and nose 1st fill sherry casks all the way. Pungent comes to mind. Taste and finish has a slightly burnt quality that I don't particularly like. I've had better Glenfarclas's. But since it went for $63.95 and probably no longer available, it's OK.

From the label I may have a different bottle because it states single malt Scotch Whisky in gold letters. But since they are probably always the same no matter what the label my comments hold except when tasting in September 2025 I get more of sherry bomb element. Not much of what I consider the Glenfarclas signature, a certain distillery taste in the aftertaste. But one has to take a number of factors into account, not the least the cost!

    Best Glenfarclas I've ever had.

    NOSE
Hazelnuts, leather, dried dark fruit, cocoa, dried orchard fruit, citrus peels, butterscotch, copper, and strawberry shortcake.

There is a “rust in the rain” aroma to this that’s earthy and warm but a bit metallic. I dig it.

    PALATE
Hazelnuts, leather, dried dark fruit, copper, orange peels, baking spice, cocoa, graham, and a touch of ash.

The sherry really peaks through here in a way that makes me think of all the great, old, Glenfarclas I’ve enjoyed.

    FINISH
Long -> Sherry, malt and ashy cocoa.
