A Longmorn from 1973 in the glass. After 29 years of storage in sherry casks, it was bottled at drinking strength with 56.9% vol., naturally uncolored and not chill-filtered. Colored in the range of brown sherry, almost espresso, the Longmorn shows a great viscosity in the glass. Yes, this whisky deserves some time to unfold its great aromas.

Undiluted, the alcohol is still present, although the bottle has been open for quite some time. Pleasant herbs and syrup flow from the glass, a slight acidity is also still present and has an invigorating effect. I am inevitably reminded of plum jam, the way my grandmother used to make it. The aromas are complex and heavy and have nothing at all to do with bottlings of comparable age from the 90s. Here you can smell the past, almost like in a museum or a venerable library. I've rarely had anything comparable in my glass. Great!

Here, too, the undiluted alcohol is still very present, even if it is slowed down by dark fruit and molasses at the same time. This whisky deserves some water to open up and unleash all its flavors. Then there are raisins, dark chocolate, caramel, a whole bouquet of wild herbs, roasted nuts, ripe spices and thick balsamic vinegar. A very wide range of taste perceptions is spreading and it really takes some time to grasp this whisky in all its range. For me a great journey to be taken on, provided you have enough whisky in your glass to spend an evening with. Exceptionally!
    • Finish
      90 90
A long finish, with great sherry, a delicate sweetness, some acidity and fine mallow. You can still taste the years in which this fine malt was allowed to mature. He leaves a great impression and sweetens the journey back in time to 1973.
