I opened this bottle due to the rapid drop in the level to just below the neck, which I discovered by accident while going through the bottles after moving 4 years ago. And I did well, because the cork completely crumbled when I opened it. But then everything was only extremely positive.

For me, a very, very special Islay, to which I would be hard pressed to find a similar whisky. This will probably be due to the fact that it is most likely a mix of 2 different new makes already before maturation - but I won't put my hand in the fire for that. However, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was Laphroaig together with Lagavulin, Caol Ila or Ardbeg; hard to say. Anyway, I poured my last shot today. And I wouldn't mind another bottle at all...
    • Nose
Fennel, asphalt, smoked mackerel, campfire smoke, Maggi, rosemary and vanilla sugar. Light glue.

+H2O: Baking powder, fruit candies, still water and coffee grounds.
    • Taste
Sweet and sour, but also slightly salty. Very warm. Yolk cream, pepper, vanilla pudding, chestnut, Pernod, menthol, licorice, hot pepper, almond liqueur and, of course, smoke.

+H2O: Orange, orange peel, anise, sugar water and fruit jelly candies with pepper. Light horseradish and green coffee.
    • Finish
The burning, even the licorice, is going away. Then cinnamon, mint, fennel tea, saltiness, beaten raw egg and fermented cucumber.

+H2O: Slightly prickly. Salty pickle, candied fruit, ash, peppermint gum, smoked cheese and marshmallow.
