  1. HammerHead scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
      86 86
Orchard and tropical fruits, pear, peach, dried apricot, coconut, quite floral, lavender, vanilla, slightly resinous, some nutty and dusty wood influence in the background. An enjoyable continuation of the older Bothy's (from their former tall bottle line up).
    • Taste
      84 84
Sweet and floral, lavender, coriander, on the verge of being soapy, vanilla, more pear, peach and coconut, sweet citrus as well, effervescent, a nice minerality as well, some wood bitters at the back, slightly peppery and developing bitter clove.
    • Finish
      82 82
Medium on vanilla and sweet/bitter citrus (bitter lemon), effervescent, much more oak influence shining through here. Quite long on the peppery and bitter oak spices.

  2. KB201 scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

Bourbon cask aging and quarter cask finish.
Due to the aging in the two casks made of American white oak, the malt whisky was able to absorb plenty of aromas of vanilla and exotic fruits.
    • Nose
Intense, tangy and citrusy, with warm spice tones of cinnamon, allspice and vanilla.
    • Taste
Sweet sun-ripened oranges, red apples and a tropical touch of pineapple.
    • Finish
      Medium finish.

  3. Cask1988 did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Quarter casks have the characteristics of giving a lot of taste in a short period of time.
    • Nose
Hmm the nose is not very convincing to be honest. For me this did not hit the sweet spot yet. Vanilla, wood shavings, caramelized peanuts and some eucalyptus.
    • Taste
Oeh the palate is interesting! Definitely some first time associations I get here. It’s very juicy and with a very thick body! Honey pops, coconut, citrus and orange fruits.
    • Finish
Rather long. Honeyed walnuts, coconut and quite a load of vanilla. Also quite fruity in fresh lemon juice and some orange juice.

This is not something I dig or would buy. But that doesn’t make this a bad whisky. Especially the palate is very pleasant. If you like a bit more rough/bald matured whisky this could certainly please you!

  4. Koning scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

My expectations weren't too high to be honest, but the oak influence of the quarter casks really works for me. It has a nice balance between the Arran citrus fruits and minerals, vanilla/coconut and oak spices. Also, the whisky doesn't feel too young as is sometimes the case with other NAS Arran releases. For under 40 euro quite a bargain for this cask strength malt!
    • Nose
      84 84
Turkish delight, vanilla, a bit of coconut, some peppermint and a bit briny. Straight forward, but enjoyable.
    • Taste
      88 88
Sweet citrus fruits and pinapple are joined by vanilla, coconut and oak spices. It has a mineral edge. I like it very much!
    • Finish
      86 86
Juicy citrus fruits, but also slightly bitter oak spices countered by vanilla, coconut and 7up.

    15 ml/¥300@Isetan.

    Appearance: Medium orange-amber.

Nose: Buttered caramel peanuts, chocolate, vanilla, light coconut and tropical fruits.

Palate: Sweet vanilla, apricot, dried mango, coconut, malt cookie, oak.

    Finish: Spicy, vanilla.

With Water: Ginger comes out in the nose, more vanilla, lovely tropical fruit and spices.

Overall: Beautiful fruit and spice notes here. Young, strong, thick and rich. Very impressive again for an NAS.
