#Scarabus Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky Hunter Laing & Co. 46%....
Like most Islay spirits, you can either hate it or love it. Although I am in the "in love" stage. I can't say I don't like it etc., I am searching and discovering. Scarabus is an intriguing whisky that makes you want to pour a second dram. Good whisky ( I don't deny that there are better ones... I haven't discovered them yet), good price. If you have the chance to try them, do so.
    • Nose
... a speedway road on a hot day, the smell of a coal-fired boiler room, a smelly leather shoe, a rubber sole... extreme so far... generally difficult, when it stood a bit in the glass other aromas appeared: seaweed, seaweed, dried nets, smoked fish, "blooming" water from weed, then something sweet... caramel but burnt, something like creme brulee or burnt foam (marshmallow). The nose is rich, intense and very intriguing.
    • Taste
... at the beginning sweet smoked smoke, smoked and even too smoked plum, burnt wood, cool and at the same time warming, slightly salty aftertaste, caramel and other sweets disappeared, second sip with a few drops of water: Scarabus became sharper, more piquant, something like cinnamon, which is pleasant in small quantities, but if you use more of it it can show its claws.
    • Finish
... long…longish…sweet, burning, the sweetness fades away and turns into dryness lined with peat, and then it's just peat, peat, peat… oily peat that lasts for a looooong time
