Exactly my thing, I could lie down in him, today I have to give him the 90 points.
    • Nose
Nice dirty smoke, vinous, caramel, creamy, tart, currant, a minty overtone, milk chocolate, slightly nutty, overall a decent edge that you shouldn't just reach into completely without knowing it, it also has sulfur, but to a pleasant extent
    • Taste
Full-bodied, intense, oily, roasted aromas, decent sulphur, wow, what a piece, massive roasted aromas in the mouth, tart, raspberry, sweet, currant, medium smoke level, what a taste explosion, delicious, nice and dirty
    • Finish
the dirt remains, slight sulphur, the smoke subsides, currants, raspberries, but not the overly sweet variety, a little floral, and now a squeeze of lemon too, good ending

  4. PunxsutawneyPhil scored this whisky 95 points Expert Senior

This whisky pushes all my button. Strong, peaty and sweet. Drying because of the wine influence, but still very recognizable as Springbank spirit. Dunnage warehouse earth tones, rusted nails on a salty beach. This farm infused peat. Absolutely stunning.

Interesting Longrow; not too smoky in the beginning. With water it develops some oldschool thing both on the nose and palate.

    Blind tasting:

    Nose:
Stinky, heavy smoke and a fruity sweetness that screams for red wine for me. Reminds me a bit of the 2020 Laphroaig Cairdeas but the smoke doesn't fit.
Don't even believe it's an Islay, it's dirtier. Ledaig or Longrow suggests itself.
    Fermented berries, moldy wood.

    Mouth:
Dirty ash, earth, fermented fruits and berries (mushy blackberry and strawberry).
Very strong and intense in taste, alcohol is hardly noticeable.

    Finish:
Sticky sweet, again slight fermentation notes, strong ashy.

    86/100

    Conclusion:
I'm very, very sure that red wine barrels are involved, and I would tend towards full maturation. Unfortunately, I don't like this combination at all, but for fans of this combination I think the whisky could be just the thing. Alcohol is well integrated, and the aroma is very intense and dense.

Open day wines are generally divided into high-end limited edition and bartender test water type, this one is undoubtedly the latter, the one you can't find in the red series.
    • Nose
Very heavy wine barrels, sultry, more exciting than the red series, and show the taste of new make. Metallic acid berries (emphasis), tangerine peel, ham oil, cheddar cheese, sea salt milk cheese, salt, pepper and fennel, medium farmhouse peat, more grains, straw and almonds, and very little wood.
    • Taste
The barrel is too unsavory, a lot of salt, marine peat, meat, salt and pepper ginkgo, truffles, black chocolate, coffee beans, a small amount of Rosaceae fruits, berries, the tail is turned into tea, cinnamon, pepper and other rich and bitter taste.
Strong, high in fat, low sweetness, relatively sour, no tannins, no astringency, a little bitter rhyme, no pungency, very slightly alcoholic
    • Finish
Longer, peat, roasted grains, fat, residual tea, sea salt.

Let's go baby! What a dram!

Bacon, a lot of raw pork and fat, candied cherries, ripe mango, slightly plastic flavor, small orange water, strengthen the nutty flavor of the wine. 89

A piece of butter, light peat and salty cream, bacon, red wine with rich spice, and sweet apple, a little mango flavor, light tangerine peel, strong Rancio flavor (nut-based) strong body, oily feel Delicate and average, I think the peaty treatment of this wine is quite in place. The sweet peat in the background and the fortified barrel flavor wheel on the front are not more fragrant than a peat monster? 90

It leaves the aroma of fortified wine, sea salt, and a bit of bitter grapefruit peel. Licorice, woody tannins. 89

  30. NRGCLICK scored this whisky 87 points Expert Junior

Forest fruits, lots of berries, hints of aniseed, pine & earthy peat.
Berries, and jam on the palate, then finishes up on dry earth, tannic and bitters.
Surprisingly well balanced when compared to some of the older longrow red expressions. Whilst I do enjoy drinking longrow reds, after a while, they all seem to taste quite similar on the palate. I'm not sure my hype for these is what once used to be.

A delicious longrow that is more intense compared to most REDs but also hits the red fruits a little too much with smoke and heat.
    • Nose
      90 90
Red fruits, lots of aromatic smoke, cooked strawberries, forest fruits, including a light warehouse muff, raspberry jam
    • Taste
      88 88
Powerful start, immediately a lot of smoke, creamy and tangy at the same time, a lot of warmth and oak spice, with the second sip red fruits come through
    • Finish
      87 87
The smoke and red fruits dominate, warming and long

  39. KayMeertens scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

A bit more peat and more caramel than the Longrow Red (compared it to the Pinot Noir and the Malbec obviously). At the same time it has these peculiar fresh notes in there which the Pinot Noir version of the Red also has to some extent.
    • Nose
      88 88
Cherry, tonic, lime, caramel, peat and minerals. Later peach, but also more peat.
    • Taste
      89 89
Peat, blueberry, kaki, mocha, caramel and lime. When it warms up the separate characteristics all come together very nicely.
    • Finish
      88 88
      Peat, caramel, gingerbread and blueberry.

  42. Archer scored this whisky 91 points Connoisseur

Longrow, 10yo, Fresh Pinot Noir + Refill Malbec - sounds like a “red” - and could actually pass as one. Hardly any smoky distillate harmonizes so well with and develops so well in wine barrels as Longrow. It's great how he keeps the balance between fruit sweetness on the one hand and flavor and smoke on the other.
    • Nose
      91 91
Immediately present. Basically, even while pouring, the Longrow exudes an incredibly intense aroma, which is even further intensified with only a short period of time. Freshly smoked ham from the smoke, warmed strawberry puree, generally warm red berries (only the vanilla ice cream is missing ...). Tarragon, savory and pepper come from the background. Slightly moldy and damp wood - if these were the stairs leading down to the old cellar (which can be clearly seen here), the minimum load capacity would be a maximum of 20kg. Strawberry chocolate, chocolate lentils, a strong espresso.
    • Taste
      91 91
This mixture of fruit sweetness, smoke and a bit of mold that developed so nicely in the nose: it can also be found on the tongue, just as pronto as in the nose. Smoked ham, out of the smokehouse a little longer now. Dry wood, the mold comes separately and leaves the wood alone. Strawberries, raspberries, blackberries. Dry deciduous forest floor in autumn, hazelnuts. Chocolate sprinkles in the taste of dark chocolate, espresso beans. Over time, the dryness increases, nutmeg and pepper pull through.
    • Finish
      90 90
Medium to long, dry. Remnants of the berry fruits processed into compote can still be found here and there. The spicy smoke is a companion to the end, with one or the other addition helping to ensure that this does not occur too quickly.

  43. juju cassoulet scored this whisky 89 points Expert Senior

A fairly lightly peaty longrow that would pass very well for a springbank.
Nothing original here but an assembly always well done.

  44. Sergm scored this whisky 89 points Expert Junior

Agree with some other reviewers regarding a similarity notes with Longrod Red series and this one is probably the best I tried thus far (I tried 4-5 differed REDs)

  45. czjena scored this whisky 89 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
      90 90
Light smoke, subtle longrow filth. Very clear red wine note. But not a sour dry note, but a heavy, spicy, sweet note of Italian Amarone or Appassimento wines. I don't know Pinot Noir too well, but it should fit. Candied blueberries, plums, blackberries from the smoker.
    • Taste
      90 90
      Oh wow!
Decent start. Lots of alcohol, some youth. And then the flavors explode. Wonderful berries, sweet, spicy, oily.
With the second sip, the alcohol and youth are gone and everything becomes even more intense.
      Associations with Christmas.
    • Finish
      88 88
In the finish then spicy, slightly dry, medium length. Becomes stronger with a little pepper and cardamom. Very tasty and well integrated alcohol.

    • Nose
Red berries and blueberries. Plums. There is some peat but well integrated. A hint of woodsmoke. Honey. Grapefruit. But also an earthy note from woodland mushrooms. Then it goes towards cheese, reminding me of brie.
    • Taste
A very nice, thick mouthfeel. Some smoke. Again the forest fruits, such as cranberries and blueberries. Grapefruit too. A hint of tea with honey. Slightly nutty. Followed by some spices such as black pepper, a pinch of ginger and nutmeg.
    • Finish
Mid-long, with cranberries The same spices as on the palate and a hint of peat. A little earthy too, but this time with white mushrooms.

Ah, it's young, but we have a nice balance between the big oily peat, and the meaty.
Barbecue, bacon, cold ash, smoke. We have the total.
      Leather, very greasy wax paste.
We have a little bit of sulfur, a match.
Plum, berries, dark chocolate, liquorice. A little fleur de sel.
      Nice personality.
    • Taste
      88 88
In the mouth it is very well integrated.
A little rubber, sulfur, a match. I am very sensitive to it.
A large lukewarm barley, short of malting.
Always grilled meat and barbecue, with cold ash and fatty peat.
      A little citrus.
      Licorice, leather, chocolate, cloves, cinnamon.
A little bit of camphor, tiger balm.

Long finish on ashes, citrus zest, Christmas spices. Soft and comforting.

Nose- Smoked plum, blackberries and other forest fruits, a bit like the smell of wort, a noticeable hint of salt.

Mouth - Expressive, forest fruit, a lot of pleasant smoke, slightly spicy, sour, grapefruit peel.

Finish - Wine, smoky, medium long, oak + mussels in sour forest fruit sauce.

If someone likes Longrow RED series, or smoky whisky after wines, he will be pleased, one of the better Red if not the best, a Pinot Noir barrel a bit covered by malbec. With this price -88/89
