- PX sweetness immediately on the nose, but not intrusively so. It's really rather subdued, with an underlying freshness / brightness and a slightly mentholy, cooling sensation reminscent of spirit from low-activity casks.
After it has settled down, rich, saccharine fruit & dried fruit notes emerge, with wine-soaked raisins, dates and plums taking the lead. Reminds me quite a bit of Chinese plum wine, actually. Not a bad nose, but also not a particularly impressive one either. Some bourbon freshness intermingled with the darker impressions of sweet sherry. Overall, more of an after-dinner affair, due to the rich, vinuous top notes. Water improves the nose, making it creamier and fuller.
On the palate, this one starts off velvety and creamy before a slight prickle reminds you that there's indeed alcohol, and casks, involved. Sweet throughout. Halfway through the development, a touch of ozone unfolds, hinting at not-fully-integrated alcohol. A vague fruity sweetness (marmelade hodgepodge) makes way for some Bourbon citrus and tart tannins towards the death. Slightly less sherry influence on the palate than on the nose. Again: not bad, but not great either. Missing some depth, I'd say.
Finish is short-to-medium, but nicely measured, with elegant ground-coffee notes appearing initially. Unfortunately, these are soon displaced by some mild heat and an alcoholic sharpness.
My general impression is that the sherry finish can't quite mask the immaturity of the base distillate. A solid effort, but nothing to write home about.

- That's how it worked out that the stay on the whishlist was not so good for nothing :)
Sherry, caramel, vanilla, furniture polish, brown sugar, light to bourbon - sweet, heavy and full hood, so this joo
Shery, citrus fruit overflowed with caramel, which occasionally flashes with a caramel veil, a chocolate-covered cereal bar, cocoa, milk tea. Further fine spiciness, creamy / liqueur
Sherry, brown sugar, chocolate, caramel, pleasant spiciness - long touch
