Whoof! As a fan of Loch Lomond it’s a pleasure to be able to drink this 30yo. And this fellow know how to make an entry!
    • Nose
It starts incredibly fresh with the typical fresh Loch Lomond flavors of fruitiness, grassiness and wet copper. It’s very alive after 30 years of maturation. It’s incredibly rich and full of flavors. The sherry finish has added a lot of depth to the whole, giving this whisky an even more rich body. Ripe apples, apple paste, ripe, zesty pear, hay, fudge, vanilla cake and a wee hint of licorice. The nose grows on me after time. It’s getting darker by the minute. It’s complex and continuously evolving.
    • Taste
On the palate it behaves very mature, complete and gentle. The body is rich, syrupy and a little silky. Again that ‘wet copper’ flavor. I get sensations of barrel aged beer here! That typical thick, plumbs, almost port-like flavors with lots of dark chocolate and espresso coffee beans. Through the whole mint remains present like in those after eight chocolates with mint stuffing. The body is getting more syrupy and thicker by the minute.
    • Finish
The finish is one of long length. Loads of dark flavors like espresso, cocoa, milk chocolate, dried plumbs and sultana’s remain, coating my mouth completely. A whiff of mint is still present as well as dried grass and fruit peel. Especially at the end the fruitiness of the Lomond profile combined with that industrial flavor is getting stronger and stronger.

The balance and harmony of this whisky are insanely good. What a delight this is! Every part just seems to be like it should. The exact sweet spot. As a fan of Loch Lomond, this is an absolute must have! If you don’t dig Loch Lomond, just leave this for me then :D The only downside for me is the price. But… even then it’s worth considering to buy it! So it will be added to my wishlist!
