  1. Dram Dracula scored this whisky 91 points Connoisseur

I have two of these: one that is a thick screw cap that is Imported by 21 Brands, and one that is a thinner corked cap that has no importer on label. Otherwise, they both say 4/5 QUART and 86 PROOF.

So this is a review of a newly opened one. Not a 21 Brands import, but one that has no import label. Just Distillers Dumbarton & Elgin, Scotland, with cork. Of course, the cork broke upon opening.

Nose: some sweet and fruity notes, quite subtle, with some metallic edges, a fresh minty smell, also slightly earthy and musty. You can sense this is old, definitely some OBE here. It's a lovely nose.

Terrific mouthfeel, creamy, thick. This is one of the best liqueur blended scotch I've tried. It's probably bottled in the 60's, so presumably juice from the 50's, perhaps even in the 40's! I love it! Very distinct notes, good complexity, combination of earth and cream and fruits, slight vegetal mushroomy notes from the OBE, salty. This old 17yo Ballantine's have a pretty good reputation, and I can see why. It's just lovely stuff.

      Nice stuff. No complaints.
