Whisky Reviews for Edradour 2008

Edradour at cask strength is always a pleasure! The Edradour inherits a perfect sherry profile in a classic style and the 2008 from the
Cask 35 convinces me as much as Cask 27, it is just a little better!

The nose and taste are really great! A sherry bomb and anyone who likes sherry whiskys cannot ignore the Ibisco bottlings from Edradour.

My assessment: A malt with properties around 100 EUR will no longer be available for this price in a few years.

    Slàinte Mhath!

There are also experts who think very highly of this type of whisky (Ralfy refiew to cask 347, https://youtu.be/wgoHxLWgXBM)!
So this whisky can't be as bad as some experts / seniors think!

high ratings from mostly newbies and juniors.

97P while lacking complexity, you should try a highly rated whisky from seniors and then think about your points again. Thx

For me just perfect, it has everything you can expect from a sherry whisky, dark fruit, not too sharp, good balance and very very long aftertaste. And the price is realy a bargain...i bought 8 for my own stock ;-)..to be sure in can enjoy this for the next few years!

Feck the fecking whisky snobs, this stuff is fecking great!

Zeitgeist sherry bomb from the retort.
What you get: Intense and impressive aromas.
What is clearly missing: complexity and finesse.
The distillery character is drowning, drowned, suffocated, killed by a wet, mediocre sherry barrel - after the Edradour distillate never really convinced me, I was hoping for more here.
    Better not to use water.

Now that I had the opportunity to taste this Edradour a few more times, I was forced to revise the rating downwards, whereby neither the price nor the age of the whisky have an influence on my rating. Despite their force, the aromas clearly lack depth and the overall appearance is just unbalanced.
    • Nose
      82 82
unbelievably heavy and juicy sweetness, the fat raisins manifest themselves directly in the nose, the alcohol is super integrated and in it swim dried pears and dumpling bread, black bread, cherry juice and liqueur with chocolate blobs, black tea sweetened with thick forest honey, vanilla ice cream, strawberry cream, light oak spice, in the distance caramel and marzipan
    • Taste
      81 81
Cinnamon and oak spice in the powerful step, then a slight astringency, tingling with a hint of white pepper, black bread with a sour undertone of cherries, forest honey at its best, tea, liquid raisins, bitter oak with resinous elements, tobacco, caramel
    • Finish
      80 80
dry and bitter with a good bite from the oak barrel, sherry with fine acidity, preserved cherries, raisins with cinnamon flavor, vanilla, yarrow, the forest honey haunts you

I totally agree with Astrid. There is nothing more to say. It seems that this dram is divided.

A single argument to save the honor of the newbies. If the head of Signatory, Andrew Symington, thinks this whisky sucks completely, then he would hardly fill it in the luxury decanter range. OK, the whisky polarizes and it is not the first.
Unfortunately, if a newbie reduces his score by 9 MAXIMUM points after the criticism, that does not show his back.
So, I'm going to the basement again now.
