A Caperdonich with a very nice exotic nose, but a little unbalanced on the palate and on the finish.

      Superb fruity / camphoric nose.
We are in the perfect line of the Caperdonich 1972.
Mango, passion fruit, pineapple, granny apple, lemon.
We have a very nice acidity here.
Vanilla, very light salted butter caramel.
      Milk chocolate, pepper.
    • Taste
      89 89
In the mouth it is a little more austere.
Old warehouse, motor oil. Metallic. It's particular.
The exoticism is less prominent, replaced by citrus zest. We still have pineapple, papaya.
It evolves on a little more aromatic herbs, dry herbs, even going on an beginning of undergrowth, balanced with a very syrupy liquorice.
In the end, we still have a fairly marked astringency.
    • Finish
      88 88
Long finish on solvent, pepper, green apple, lime zest, wood, liquorice.

This is part of the 5 x Caperdonich 1972 Tasting.

    This is the 4th dram
    • Nose

Big honey up front, with not so intense berries and dried fruits. Smells sticky and sweet, and some old cask smell. Some waxiness as well.
    • Taste

Honey and honey and honey. Nice mouthfeel, good weight on your tongue. The sherry influence is very obvious on the nose and palate.
    • Finish
      89 89
Long, with sherry, honey, some dried fruits and oakiness

  4. Baanaanaabob scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

quite fruity but not tropical as expected, quite bitter on the palate despite a very promising nose, still very drinkable

Starts very good, in particular punchy and strong but the slightly leafy notes and rather dry end are not like the best Caper 72 - still very good though
    • Nose
      92 92
Honey, sweet, overripe fruits, hints of solvent, whiffs of vanilla, also some green fruits - very good
    • Taste
      90 90
Punchy, oily, fruity, fresh juice, orange peels, oak wood, more green fruits, good sweetness but also some leafy notes
    • Finish
      88 88
Long, burning, zesty, a tad bitter, little bit drying
