I had already indicated what my problem with Glendronach and especially with the single casks is.
I also usually have a lot of American oak aroma and I can't get rid of the feeling ... yes, I'm actually quite sure that most of these bottlings were in a fairly fresh bourbon barrel for a very long time before they had a corresponding finish get a "single cask".

This colleague definitely owes the points here to his nose.
    • Nose

I poured it, placed it next to me, didn't pan and an extremely intense sherry note was already blowing out of the 1920's Blenders glass. After swiveling, there is a dark, full PX sherry nose. Hardly any alcohol, no sharpness when nosing.
You get a certain foreboding, which will suit you in terms of oak cargo / barrel on the palate.
But now the flavors in the nose ...
Ribwort plantain juice, tobacco, clove, cinnamon, allspice, oiled floorboards, dried fruits like cherries in dark chocolate, a light hint of glue. Liquorice, notes of cognac and armagnac, nuts, lovage, umami, soy sauce.

      Wonderful nose!

As much as I like my nose, this whisky shows me clearly in my mouth again, which is why I am not a big friend of these Glendronach single casks.
It gets really bitter right away, it has a lot of fresh wood, the fine differentiated aromas from the nose are literally overwhelmed.
The second sip is definitely better, but it becomes the same as the first after about 10 seconds.

Earthy aromas prevail, metal, iron, rust, tannins, tannins, burnt caramel.
    • Finish
      84 84
It is quite long in the mouth, but in particular a dry, dusty and slightly bitter feeling remains on the tongue.
