  1. MaltMartin scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

One of the oldest vintages of Allt-a-Bhainne around distilled in the year the distillery was founded. Quite sharp and spirity at first sip, but with some juicy sweet fruitiness in it as well. Not much complexity but enjoyable to taste.
    • Nose
Start alcoholic with its 60,2% ABV after 28 years of maturation. After a while, typical bourbon barrel characteristics come through with toasted oak, vanilla, and honey. Followed by gooseberries, tangerines, and some unripe pear. Amazing because the label states that this whisky has been matured in a refill sherry cask. Touch of sandalwood in the background.
    • Taste
Hot and spicy with lots of citric notes of kiwi fruit, pineapple, and orange peel. Lemon curd and some lime as well. Spices of aniseed and thyme. Some biscuits and shortbread. Cake mix intermingled with some ginger and cinnamon later on. Hints of toasted almonds.
    • Finish
Quite long with a lingering sweetness. White pepper and clove. Apple-mint and spearmint in the finale.
