  1. Lorion scored this whisky 93 points Connoisseur

Really terrific. A whole lot more elegant and wine-accented than his brother from 1990. I like him much better. Just kneel down. 93 points.
    • Nose
That is Couvreur. The unmistakable sherry-heavy, herb-laden and very sweet nose, which overwhelms at first. The first thing you notice is sweet herbs. A little basil, a touch of lovage - by no means dominant or penetrative. Sweet cherries covered with a layer of leather soaked in wine. Plums, Malaga raisins. The dark fruits are all soaked in wine and old. They are already beginning to ferment. Fig jam and whole milk chocolate. After a few minutes, a little dusty library gets in the nose. Old paper, even older leather. A little more time makes the nose look a bit drier and more herbaceous. Herb would be the wrong expression. But not so cute anymore. The chocolate is now a darker one. The oak comes through more aromatic. Spicy, warm, full. The chocolate becomes more and more intense, a little mild rosemary is added. Forest berries are added to the other dark fruits.
    • Taste
The whisky slowly flows into the mouth and spreads. The sweetness is there immediately, but it doesn't drown out anything. Cherries and dates. Raisins and plums are added immediately afterwards. Liquid chocolate runs through the mouth and pipe tobacco slowly builds up and becomes more intense. The sweetness also takes a back seat. It doesn't get dry, but a hint of Herbe gives the sweetness a fascinating counterpoint. Swallowing then releases the tobacco and briefly becomes omnipresent, only to make room for a fine dry oak note. The mouthfeel is a composition! Leather and old fruit remain in the taste. Blueberries, ancient books, dried cherries, moldy wood.
    • Finish
Long, spicy, fruity. The leathery aftertaste remains very long. Chocolate.
