We've seen several of these Glenallachie 2008 by IB's on the market lately. Somehow, they all have a sort of same profile with quite some 'dirty' and 'sweating' sulphury notes. This expression bottled for China is no different. Sample provided by Anthony, who else?
    • Nose
Starts with some thick sweet sherry notes of buttery oak and sulphur. Followed by hints of clover-honey, mead, and dark caramel. Raisins. Quite some fresh cedar oak as well. Some cinnamon, menthol, and tobacco in the background. Unfortunately, the sulphur notes stay clearly present all the time.
    • Taste
Gingerbread, cinnamon, and aniseed are my first impressions of the palate. Also raspberry jam and strawberries. Notes of stewed fruits of figs. Orange peel and bitter grapefruit as well. Later on more dark notes of bitter chocolate and coffee grounds. It all remains thick and 'fattish.
    • Finish
Medium long with spices of nutmeg and tannins. A little black pepper at the end.
