The nose is quite interesting and catches the drinker's attention. This love-hate dynamic on the nose doesn't carry over to the palate and beyond; the notes are well-incorporated and become base notes. It's well worth the price, that much needs to be emphasized. A good whisky.

    Price-performance ratio: Good, Very-good!
Would I buy it again?: 5cl seems enough for me, but I wouldn't mind having a bottle on hand.

An exceptionally perfumed nose. Patchouli, earthiness. Cocoa. Even chocolate pudding. Low-cocoa dark chocolate. A strangely cheesy undertone; like cheddar or a mid-aged Gouda. Caramel. Tropicality, custard apple, passion fruit syrup or sauce. Woodiness, a hint of mold. There's also a goat cheese-like background note. Lychee. Chocolate cookie. The cheesiness feels like it's going to ruin it, but then it motivates you to sniff it again. Brown sugar and fresh carob cheesiness! It has an interesting dynamic. Jujube. Walnut jam. Cinnamon in the background. Clove, nutmeg. A very atypical nose, quite complex. It's ridiculously endearing.
    • Taste
      86 86
A hint of nettle on the palate. Carob cheesiness and dustiness are more subdued. Stale nuts. Light cashews, dried yellow apricots, and dried figs. Nutmeg and cinnamon are prominent, perhaps cardamom. Hazelnut brittle. High body. Plenty of buttery biscuit, maybe even biscuit dough. Medium-low, if not low, sweetness. Raw hazelnuts. Walnuts and dried red apple. A slight freshness. Fresh lychee. Pine nuts, pine needles. White chocolate. Dried strawberries perhaps. An atypical palate, though not as much as the nose. Good, interesting.
    • Finish
      85 85
The finish is a riot of spices; cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, curry, a hint of cumin, fresh mint leaves, cloves, and perhaps a touch of allspice. High intensity, medium-length finish. The olivey funk of some Jamaican rums is in the background. Shoe polish. Lychee again. A hint of buttery cookie again. Grey peppercorn. White chocolate. The spices diminish with oxidation, giving way to other notes on the palate. Not unpleasant, sufficiently complex.
