  1. Cask1988 did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

A little disapointing to be honest. This is a weird mix of Ardmore with a very big and dominant Laphroaig punch. It’s not that I don’t like Laphroaig, the opposite is true, but it’s more that I like to taste the distillery character in a dram. That is where the problem of this Ardmore is. It’s more Laphroaig then it is Ardmore.
    • Nose
A rather big islay peat punch. Smoldering wood, medicinal and maritime. Blindly tasted I would have never guessed this is an Ardmore. It might technically be that, but experience wise, it’s not even close. This is Laphroaig all over the place. The only thing that is not extremely present is the high level of medicinal notes like what is common with Laphroaig. Orange, forest fruits and chocolate.
    • Taste
Sharp, young and earthy at first. Not ready to bottle if you ask me. Not balanced enough. Again a very Islay-like character. I start to wonder how much Laphroaig was left in this octave..Despite of small casks, most of the time, having big influence on these sharp and young notes in terms of filtering them out sooner, the finish has not been long enough to do so. I guess the first part of maturation has been an inactive (dead) refill cask.
    • Finish
Long because of the peat, but again it has written Islay all over it. I’ve said enough about it.

I didn’t have a lot of bad Ardmore expressions but this is definitely one in my opinion. You can better spend your money on a bottle of Laphroaig Quarter cask or similar.
