Tried this one after a 2009 vintage from Cooper's Choice. This one lacks the fruitiness in comparison, but its dryness is very delicate somehow.
    • Nose
Dry and oaky, next to the peat of course.
    • Taste
Again dry, straw-like. Delicate seafood, like oysters. Some brawn (hoofdkaas) as well.
    • Finish
Again that straw-like maltiness which goes hand in hand with the peat. Dark chocolate. A light tangerine-like fruitiness in the back.

peat, spices and intense lemony fruits
    the mouth leaves on a peat quite dry, strong, a little ashy, rather peppery spices, it is round and strong, a little crude, but the scents are tenacious, a little woody and herbs back which decorate well peat;
fruits on fresh citrus and also a little cooked.
The finish on a monolithic length but also well balanced.

Peaty smoke, citruses, stewed apples with pepper, cinnamon and citric zest finish.

The smell of cane sugar, thick caramel, candied candied fruit, and thick jam made of white cherries wafted through the faint smoke. The smell of an old fishing boat. Taste: here! Strong black Azerbaijani tea with thyme and lemon was added to this jam. The smoke tastes like the aftertaste of a lamb kebab. In the mouth there was an amazing combination of good company, a good feast. Nostalgias. This is the best dram in the top three. Aftertaste: you've just finished a lamb cutlet and you're washing it down with tea. Tart, delicious, astringent, bright.

    Nose:
lemon candy, grass and lime on a background of peat and ash. A few spices sprinkled with ash and fruit sweets - 22
    Taste:
fairly dry, pepper, ashes, peat and slightly dried grass. Lemon-light candy and a little peach syrup mixed with some kind of butter. Sweet - 22
    Finish:
Chewed apple seed (bitterness), ash, pepper, some wood and fruit sweetness. - 21
    Balance: 22
    And that - 87

Very VERY pale - until you add water and it turns cloudy. Caol ila fans will love it for its peat, but its not one I will buy again because it is simply 'isn't much like whisky!'

Will use the rest of the bottle to add a peaty element to my home-blend, however a little will go a long way.

powerful, very obviously spirit driven Ci without any cask influence. so thats phenolic peat (but not smoke), slightly sweet new-make, a touch of citrus.
    • Taste
      80 80
Sugared almonds, white pepper, oily mouthfeel. Very mouthwatering.
    • Finish
      80 80
slight bitter edge, your mouth is anaesthetised. lingering peat.

For me this small batch brings more flavors and depth than a regular Cask Strength release. Because of the 48% ABV the flavors stick. Considering the price point and balance, well done!
    • Nose
      88 88
typical Cool Ila notes like seewead, brininess, lemon zest, grass, vanilla, but this small batch is more sweet and fruity. Peach, sweet pears, toffee, candy notes and to top it all of.. a touch of rubber. Quite interesting you could say.
    • Taste
      89 89
Quite similar to the nose. Seaweed, brine, citrus fruits, lemongrass, medicinal notes, pepper, burned wood, a touch of peat, earthiness, tobacco and again the sweet notes: peach, crème brûlée and vanilla fudge.
    • Finish
      87 87
mid/long lingering notes of peach, lemongrass, vanilla, sewed, brininess, earthy and again that typical pepper note.
