A beautiful expression of Ledaig, where full, tasteful cohesiveness and a precious nose are the main, lasting impresssions.
    • Nose
      91 91
very clean, sweet, vanillated smoke, blood oranges, a salty breeze, a fresh earthy note that doesn’t quite make it to dirty, but stays delicate.. a visit to the stables on a cold morning.. overripe bananas and slightly sour, slightly rotten apples and quinces.. a cold-automnal composition

Again, quite delicate despite the abv, the alcohol barely bites, probably because of the very oily consistency.. the sherry and the peat are there whispering secrets to each other, not really willing to share with the rest of us.. i’m going back to the glorious nose to find reasons to love this dram.. and i find them plenty. Even if there is not much complexity, this is just tasty, a tasty combination.. some salt comes into play, salty caramel with a touch of lemon. Lovely!

With water, sweetness increases, not much else seems to happen anymore, reminds me of a 20 yo ob matured in moscatel casks that has stellar reviews here on wb, but didn’t leave me much impressed.. made a great hot toddy though.
    • Finish
      87 87
A bitter and sour interplay followed by candy sweetness that keeps lingering on and makes me go cat-licking my lips.. a bit of lemony, peppery smoke.. again, nothing earth-shattering, just this understated grace that makes this whisky shine.
