A 12-year-old Glendronach as a single cask, matured in PX barrel and bottled in cask strength? Sounds very promising! Safran colors, with a strong 60.2% Vol., The Dram shows after a short moment quite wide windows. The anticipation is rising.
    • Nose
      88 88
Undiluted is first a soft marzipan aroma wide, cedar and milk chocolate. Gingerbread and dried apricots are to smell. Currants and green bananas display a beautiful fruit character, which is supported by a honey note. The alcohol is beautifully integrated.
Diluted to 48% Vol., The perception changes. On the nose now yellow banana, vanilla, cotton candy, cedar, moist tobacco, apricot, pear. The smell is pleasant and noble.
    • Taste
      90 90
Enjoyed undiluted shows the Dram all his strength. He has a sharp tongue and his lips are burning. The palate is oily. Herbal notes and mocha first determine the taste pattern before the salivation begins and a honey sweetness follows.
After dilution, the whisky is oily and sweet on the palate. The fruits are ripe and balanced and in addition to pronounced banana and apricot almonds, mocha and nougat are in the taste. A light floral note gives the whisky a freshness and some peppermint tingles on the palate.
    • Finish
      88 88
In the undiluted state, the whisky leaves first sharpness and then a bitter note, followed by the herbs and a subtle sweetness. The finish can be regarded as medium to long.
Reduced in alcohol, the finish is characterized by sweetness, fruit and new wood. Very round and soft, the whisky leaves a pleasant aroma that lasts medium long.
