- An easy choice if you love the peat/ sherry combination. This one is better than a lot of those fast thrill peaters on the market.
Drinks very easy at almost 55%.
Lots of sherry influences here, but the Islay character is still around.
Chilli pepper dark chocolate and dry leather with figs.
Tobacco boxes with autumn leaves, dirt and tar. Seaweed, smoke and seasalt.
A b ig mouthfull of Islay with just the right amount of sherry. Fierce and wild but rounded enough to give you enough depth next to the intense flavours.
Smoky, caramels, some magnesium
- Good barrel selection - the sherry barrel sets the tone, but is not so dominant that you can hardly taste anything other than fruit sweetness, as with many other Islay Sherry NAS smokers. Nice harmonizing smoky note. Should (and can) drink without water.
The sherry barrel with cherries, warm grape juice, raisins and old, crumbly leather makes itself immediately noticeable. Discreetly smoky - means: you can smell it, it fills the nose, but it shows a restrained presence and does not jump one with the naked Poppes in the face. Goes well with the fruity aromas. In between, it chases a small sting in the nose - too deep you should not sink the olfactory bulb in the glass.
Seasoning comes, pepper, marjoram, lovage. Vanilla and caramel, shortbread.
With the emerging spices also attracts the smoke, now slightly phenolic, dried seaweed.
Sweet-smoky onset, strong and dry from the start. Candies with currant flavor, raspberries, cherry jam, blackberries, raisins, dried figs. Wood chips, tobacco, black tea. But hello, it's dry.
The sweetness that shows up at the beginning, relaxes fortunately, that could have quickly become too much of a good thing. But curve got, now he is on a beautiful straight with pleasantly spicy smoke (slightly ashy), a wild berry mix, rose scent, honey and biscuit.
Medium to long finish, dry without finish, with well-stored wood, raisins, blackberries, vanilla and white pepper.
- Oh i love it. Smoky, wild, sweed a bit of sherry and maritime notes. A young and wild Islay Whisky. Needs a bit of time and patience don't hurry it - savour and enjoy it. It is a very intense Whisky with a long finish.
