A very well made Benrinnes, but.. the cask had a large say in this overwhelming the Benrinnes distillate. The group thought this could also be a Keith, Burgie etc. Next to GlenSherry we now have BenBourbon? Anyhow quite some sweet citrus, creamy vanilla, sweetened coconut water and tropical fruits. A bit stingy due to the high abv but the body is amazing.

    Full bottle

These Cadenhead Benrinnes...naked, in the buff, absent of fancy sherry clothes, which is the way nature intended. Hefty spirit, oily, characterful... I don’t think I’ve found a bad one. Another great one, this is. Drinks well at such a big abv, which is a great sign to me. I keep reaching for it. Guilt free, old school, crushable.

Oranges, polish, fat spirit, marzipan. Big and bold, but accessible.
    • Taste

Easy going for the abv. Creamy, fat and oily. Full and great mouthfeel. Very good here. Dunnage, bung cloth, Clementine, mandarin...I don’t generally love orange notes, but it really works here. Almost dusty or antiquey.

Long, fruity, oily, orange polish, varnish, I hesitate to say wax, but a fatness for sure. Spice picks up, but in perfect balance. Really great.

[Sep 19 outturn tasting - quick note] Very good one. As often with bourbon Benrinnes, this is (somesthesically, if you will) very "green", but here, it's to good side of green.
    • Nose
Nice one again ! The Glenburgie had pineapple-flavoured Napoléons, this one has the green ones, and a lot of them ! Green apple péket (fellow Belgians will get it), fresh paint. Good one !
    • Taste
Green apple indeed, very nice boiled sweet feeling again, and some pine needles. Alcohol could be a little more integrated but this is still very nice.

    Top bourbon casked Benrinnes!
    • Nose
Bright fruity notes including oranges, lemons, and pineapples. Complex sweetness, honey.
    • Taste
Old and settled. Waxiness, liquorice root, herbs, icing sugar, and a filling fattiness. Less fruity than the nose but still vibrant and sweet. Slight - almost a little vinous - acidity to it. Savouriness.
    • Finish
Old, settled dunnage matured whisky at its best.
      Glorious.

Very fruity and estery, tropical fruits, peach, mango, pineapple, citrus, sweet honey, hard raspberry candy, Napoleon hard lemon candy, a slight note of solvents (not disturbing at all).
    • Taste
      90 90
Very sweet (as in fruity, not sugary), loads of tropical fruits like mango, pineapple, and sweet citrus, also some dried apricots. Despite the high abv it's actually not vey bity, only mild peppery wood notes.
    • Finish
      90 90
Medium: sweet honey, still tropical and hard candies, a more clear amount of wood spice now.

Part of the first ‘HetWhiskyForum Thuisfestival’! Tasting note is in dutch and is based on the available 2cl.
A very, very deserving Benrinnes! Beautifully fruity and fatty. Excellent stuff!
    • Nose
Firm citrus and tropical fruit, yellow fruit, peach, apricot, honey.
    • Taste
      Greasy, sweet, firm, very fruity
    • Finish
Banana peel, greasy, dusty and spicy, soaked wood.
