  1. Totoro scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Not for sherry fetishists, but a dream for fans of the authentic Highland Park distillery character. Mild and mellow, without excessive sharpness (which some current HP OAs exhibit even at much lower bottling strengths), so that all the aromas are immediately accessible and present. A wonderfully straightforward UA HP. Chapeau.

Typical and impressively clear HP character, with heather honey, herbal aspects, and that very special, slightly ashy and incredibly aromatic peat smoke that you can't find anywhere else. The fact that the previous barrel aging - apart from perhaps a subtle nuttiness - hardly plays a role here is a real plus. You notice that the material is mellow and no longer very young, but not because of any kind of woodiness. Praise the refill barrel. Praise it! [At least at Highland Park...]

This is where the Nymphe plays its trump cards. Super present and inherently complex, just because of the long-matured HP spirit. Ashy, sour, chocolaty, salty: the whole flavor spectrum is activated. Wonderfully tart, but without any unpleasant bitterness (like that found in the almost equally aged Cask Orkney). Wonderfully mild at cask strength, no water necessary.

Tart and honey-sweet at the same time (you have to get that right), with dark chocolate, coffee-like roasted aromas, surprisingly strong oak spice, a clear maritime/salty touch and a never-ending, gentle, ashy smoky note. That's how it should be.
