  1. ARDBERG did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

    SMWS AT Autumn 2002 list:

    Kaninchenschmorbraten
After ten years in a refilled hogshead, this whisky was transferred to a second-time sherry butt in May 1998. The result is interesting. The distillery was founded at the end of the 18th century, stands in Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire, and was recently woken up by Morrison Bowmore from her slumber. The color of this bottling is a bright amber, and the first scent is reminiscent of apple pie, then apple dumpling (in the towel), then a sweet red wine sauce-like rabbit stew. Except in the undiluted taste, which is slightly sulfurous, there is no trace of sherry. Water brings out some gum, but this loses itself in the direction of black pudding, with a slightly esterigen fruitiness. The taste is pleasant and mild, sweet and dry, with a short finish. A nice appetizer for cool spring days.
